Recruitment of 494 People in 3 Fields: Hope Work Project, Nowon Ansim Jobs, and Community Jobs... Hope Work Project and Nowon Ansim (Public Work) Jobs... Applications Accepted at Dong Resident Center from May 10
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will expand the operation of public job projects in the second half of the year.
This is to provide jobs mainly to vulnerable groups who are experiencing severe employment shocks due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, supporting urgent livelihoods, while maintaining a smooth quarantine response system through environmental maintenance and support for daily quarantine personnel.
The total number of public job recruits for the second half of the year is 494. There are three types: Hope Work Jobs, Nowon Safety (Public Work) Jobs, and Community Jobs, totaling about 256 projects.
First, there are Hope Work Jobs recruiting a total of 308 people and Nowon Safety Jobs (Public Work) recruiting 168 people. They will be active in 248 projects including daily quarantine, park and stream environmental maintenance, back alley environmental maintenance, and emergency support for public tasks.
The recruitment target is Nowon-gu residents aged 18 or older as of the project start date (July 1) who have work ability and belong to vulnerable employment groups such as long-term unemployed for more than six months. Especially, this year, applications are temporarily allowed for those who have experienced job loss or business closure due to COVID-19.
Hope Work involves 4 hours per day, Safety Jobs involve 3 to 6 hours per day, with a 5-day workweek. The hourly wage is 8,720 KRW, and a daily meal allowance of 5,000 KRW is paid separately. However, those aged 65 or older can only participate in projects with 4 hours or less per day.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the local community service center with the application form and required documents from June 10 to 8. Selection is based on the highest score by summing up qualification requirements, income, property, and other bonus points, and successful candidates will be individually notified on June 21.
The work period is from July 1 to December 20.

Additionally, 18 people will be recruited for Community Jobs. The target is Nowon-gu residents aged 18 or older (as of July 1) who have work ability and belong to households with income below 65% of the median income and property under 300 million KRW.
They will perform 8 projects including childcare for multicultural families and public urban garden management. The work period is from July 1 to November 30.
The principle is 6 hours per day (3 hours per day for those aged 65 or older) and 5 days per week. The hourly wage is 8,720 KRW, and a daily meal allowance of 5,000 KRW is paid separately. Applications can be submitted to the Job Economy Division of the district office with required documents from May 20 to 25.
Meanwhile, the district operates a customized disaster relief fund for Nowon-gu and Seoul City separately from the government's 4th disaster relief fund, providing more detailed support by segmenting small business owners, vulnerable groups, and affected industries, striving for thicker and more meticulous support to overcome COVID-19.
District Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “I hope public jobs will help those who are struggling with the prolonged difficulties of COVID-19,” and added, “We will do our best to recover the local economy by preparing various support systems.”
