Global Kids Non-Face-to-Face Class Platform Heykido Arranges Meetings with World-Renowned Artists Remotely

Heykido, an edutech platform that connects world-renowned educational institutions and educators with preschool children and adolescents in Korea, announced that it has prepared special one-day classes where participants can meet global influencers online in celebration of Family Month in May, according to Heykido CEO Hyunji Park.

The first event is a Korea-first meeting with Tay Keller, a Korean-American author and the 100th recipient of this year’s prestigious Newbery Medal in the United States. The Newbery-winning work, When You Trap a Tiger, is a full-length children’s book inspired by a Korean folktale that Tay Keller heard from her grandmother when she was young. The event is designed so that children can read the book and then have a 40-minute Q&A session with the author.

The second event class arranged is a meeting with Lisa Park, a world-renowned Korean-American media artist and participating artist in the newly expanded and revamped National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Gwacheon Children’s Museum exhibition titled You and Me.

Heykido CEO Hyunji Park said, “When people think of artists, they usually imagine painters holding brushes on canvas. However, even within the art genre, there are various careers, and I expect this to be an opportunity to broaden children’s thinking about new career paths. In particular, media artists represent a future-oriented career that combines technology and art in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, so I really wanted to introduce this.” She added, “I watched with affection as a friend I studied with in New York during college grew into a world-class artist, which is why I planned this class as a Korea-first event.”

She also said, “This meeting with Lisa Park is the most ideal kids’ education program that intersects offline exhibitions and online artist meetings. Through online classes, Heykido will regularly offer classes where domestic children can meet influencers active on the global stage remotely, which they normally would not have easy access to.”

Applications for Heykido’s online classes are available on Naver Smart Store.
