Gwangju Buk-gu Selected for Two Competitions Hosted by Ministry of Employment and Labor

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 10th that it secured a total project fund of 1.25 billion KRW from two public contests: the 'Youth Challenge Support Project' and the 'Regional Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project,' both hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.

The Youth Challenge Support Project, implemented for the first time this year by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, selected Buk-gu as the only autonomous district in Gwangju.

Buk-gu will invest a total of 340 million KRW by December to discover young job seekers who have given up on employment and have no history of employment or participation in education or vocational training for more than six months. It will provide capacity-building programs such as psychological counseling and financial education, and help them succeed in employment by linking with the National Employment Support System.

In addition, Buk-gu will proceed with the project by investing 910 million KRW secured from the additional public contest of the Regional Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project.

In cooperation with executing organizations such as the Korea Photonics Industry Promotion Association and the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Chonnam National University, Buk-gu will operate training courses to cultivate specialized personnel in the 4th industrial field, cloud technology-based remote counselors, and child care experts targeting high school graduates and women with career interruptions.

Moon In, Mayor of Buk-gu, said, “We will continue to actively promote job creation projects tailored to the characteristics of the region to support local residents to participate as main agents in economic activities.”
