Unemployed Youth Aged 19-34 to Receive Guro Sarang Gift Certificates... Applications Accepted on Seoul Youth Portal Until June 11... Closed Small Business Owners Can Apply by Visiting Department or Registered Mail by August 13... Cash Paid Within 7 Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Sung) has launched support measures for unemployed youth and closed small business owners.
This support project is designed for unemployed youth and self-employed individuals struggling due to COVID-19, consisting of the ‘Unemployed Youth Employment Incentive’ and ‘Support for Closed Small Business Owners’ programs.
First, applications for the ‘Unemployed Youth Employment Incentive’ will be accepted until June 11.
The eligible applicants are youths aged 19 to 34 registered as residents in Guro-gu, who are unemployed within two years after their final graduation and are not enrolled in employment insurance. Even if enrolled in employment insurance, those working less than 26 hours per week or short-term workers under three months can apply. However, current university (graduate) students, students on leave, unemployment benefit recipients, and participants in the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s ‘2020 Youth Job-Seeking Activity Support Fund’ and ‘2021 National Employment Support System (Type 1)’ are excluded.
Applicants must prepare documents such as a resident registration certificate or abstract, employment insurance qualification history, and final graduation certificate, and submit them through the Seoul Youth Portal website.
Application results can be checked on the Seoul Youth Portal website in July, and selected applicants will sequentially receive 500,000 KRW worth of Guro Love Gift Certificates per person.
Support for closed small business owners will also be provided.
The eligible applicants are small business owners who closed their businesses between March 22 of last year and May 2 of this year, and who operated for more than 90 days before closure in local businesses subject to gathering bans or business restrictions.
Applications must be submitted by August 13 with documents such as a certificate of business closure, confirmation of receipt of the re-challenge incentive, and application form by visiting the relevant department at the district office according to the business type. Registered mail applications are also accepted. The program may close early if the budget is exhausted.
Results will be individually notified within seven days after application, and eligible applicants will receive 500,000 KRW per person.
For detailed information on eligibility and application methods, please refer to the news section on the district office website.
A Guro-gu official stated, “We hope this support will help youths and small business owners struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic,” and added, “We will do our best to prepare various support measures to ensure no residents are left behind.”
