[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Choyoung] A man in his 50s working in quick delivery service, who was punished six times but again drove under the influence, was sentenced to imprisonment.
According to the legal community on the 9th, the Chuncheon District Court Criminal Division 2 (Chief Judge Park Jinyoung) sentenced A (53) to 1 year and 6 months in prison on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
A denied the charges, saying, "I only drank one bottle of soju after driving for quick delivery work and returning home," but the court did not accept this.
A was tried for riding a motorcycle about 1.5 km from a restaurant in Chuncheon to his residence at around 8:25 p.m. on December 8 last year with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.145%.
The court judged that A's drunk driving charge was recognized based on the circumstances of the drunk driving crackdown, the defendant's driving behavior, the circumstances of the alcohol measurement, the defendant's behavior at the time of measurement, and A's statement to the police that he "drank three bottles of beer alone at the restaurant before driving."
Chief Judge Park said, "Despite being punished six times for drunk driving, there was no remorse," and explained the sentencing reason, "Considering the high blood alcohol concentration and the lack of any sign of reflection, a severe punishment is inevitable."
