Recruiting 'Urban Regeneration New Deal Youth Interns'... Fostering Talent Growing with the Region

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 9th that they are recruiting the first round of Urban Regeneration New Deal Youth Interns for 2021.

The Urban Regeneration New Deal Youth Internship is a program that allows young people interested in the field of urban regeneration to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills through on-site training, helping them grow into talents in the urban regeneration sector.

Selected interns will work as 'work experience trainees' for about six months at Urban Regeneration Support Centers nationwide and other locations.

This youth internship will select around 500 participants. The selection scale has been expanded to reflect regional demand and provide internship opportunities to more young people.

According to a survey conducted on interns and training institution staff who participated in the second round of the youth internship last year, 81.9% of interns evaluated that the youth internship activities helped the center’s work and local urban regeneration, and 95.2% of training institutions responded that the internship is necessary to nurture young experts in this field.

Youth interns can apply if they are between 18 and 34 years old, with no restrictions on academic background or experience.

The program runs for a total of six months, beginning with two weeks of basic competency training covering understanding of urban regeneration, practical skills training, and workplace etiquette education.

Afterward, for on-site training, interns are assigned to centers and urban regeneration support organizations, where they will gain practical experience in tasks such as project promotion, supporting resident community activities, urban regeneration data research, and project planning.

During the on-site training period, interns will have a customized experience by leading and solving tasks linked to urban regeneration in the region through a professional development course consisting of 10 expert mentoring sessions.

Detailed information about the selection process and schedule, training institutions, and training tasks can be found in the selection announcement posted on the Urban Regeneration Comprehensive Information System website.
