Gangnam-gu, Consulting on Cooling and Heating Cost Reduction Measures

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) is recruiting 120 participants for the ‘Greenhouse Gas Reduction Diagnosis and Consulting’ program until the 31st, offering free customized prescriptions and follow-up management through on-tact consultations.

The ‘Greenhouse Gas Reduction Diagnosis and Consulting’ program will be conducted from June to August.

Three dedicated teams, each consisting of two members trained in energy specialization, analyze three months of last year’s utility bills of the participating households to discover effective energy-saving methods based on the analysis.

All types of housing, including single-family homes, multi-family houses, and apartments, are eligible. Any Gangnam-gu resident interested can apply via email (yehoon4877@gangnam.go.kr).

The dedicated teams collect all necessary information through prior phone calls and photo submissions, eliminating the need for face-to-face consultations.

The teams analyze water, electricity, and city gas usage to check for any energy leakage and provide easy and simple heating and cooling cost-saving methods applicable in daily life. They also calculate and inform participants of the expected annual savings when replacing insulation devices such as air caps and draft stoppers, high-efficiency lighting (LED), and water-saving equipment.

Joo Myung-ae, Director of the Environment Department, stated, “Thanks to the residents who have taken the lead in practicing carbon-neutral living, our district was selected as the best district in the Seoul Eco Mileage evaluation.” She added, “The high participation of residents in this project, which aims to accelerate ‘2050 Carbon Neutral Green Gangnam,’ is expected to lead to a reduction in residents’ heating costs.”
