Let's Start Practicing Plastic Zero from Myself~

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) is holding a photo and video contest under the theme "Let's Practice Plastic Zero Starting with Me" to commemorate the 26th Environment Day (June 5).

The purpose is to reflect on environmental issues such as global warming and to collectively consider and share practical ways to achieve sustainable development in daily life.

The contest theme is "Let's Practice Plastic Zero Starting with Me!" It aims to address the increasingly serious problem of plastic waste, exacerbated by the spread of food delivery culture due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

Participants can submit photos or videos depicting ideas for reducing disposable products in daily life or methods of plastic recycling.

Anyone who is an elementary, middle, or high school student, university student, or adult resident of Nowon-gu can apply. Each person may submit one entry (choosing either photo or video).

Photos must be jpg or png files under 10MB, and videos must be mp4 files with a resolution of at least 1920*1080 pixels and a length of 15 to 60 seconds.

Submissions are accepted online until the 20th.

The method is to access the contest web hard drive, log in with the guest account (ID: nowon2021, password: 0605), and upload the file named after the submitter to the "2021 Environment Day Contest" folder.

A panel of judges consisting of experts including the Korea Professional Photographers Association will select a total of 24 works in photo and video categories for grand prize, excellence, and merit awards.

The winning works will be posted on the district office website and notified individually on the 26th, and the mayor's commendation will be awarded.

The award ceremony will be held during the Environment Day commemorative event on June 5, and the works will be uploaded to the Nowon Environmental Foundation and Jungnangcheon Environmental Center YouTube channels and exhibited on the 6th floor of the district office to coincide with the ceremony.

The district is promoting various projects to create a sustainable clean living environment. In particular, the "Nowon Eco Center," which leads environmental protection through climate change education and resident participation programs, and the "Jungnangcheon Environmental Center," which offers education on river environment and ecosystem restoration, play a pivotal role in improving climate change awareness from children to adults.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, "As interest in climate change is gradually increasing, we are holding this contest to share good ideas and practical methods in celebration of Environment Day. We ask for your active participation and interest."
