[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Bank (President Song Jong-wook) announced on the 7th that it visited Sohwa Sisters' Home and donated 10 million won to the Sohwa Sisters' Association.
There are a total of 18 nuns volunteering at Sohwa Sisters' Home, about half of whom are over their 70s.
They have served tuberculosis patients, leprosy patients, and women with disabilities in the Gwangju area for over 50 years, but since Sohwa Sisters' Home is a social welfare corporation, they must leave the site according to legal regulations upon retirement age, leaving them in a difficult situation with nowhere to go.
Accordingly, President Song Jong-wook of Gwangju Bank and employees visited the Sohwa Sisters' Home, which is in a distressing situation, delivered a donation for retired nuns to Father Jo Young-dae, and listened to the current status of the Sohwa Sisters' Home.
Also, on the occasion of Parents' Day, they took time to express gratitude for the nuns' service and spirit of sacrifice by presenting carnations.
President Song Jong-wook of Gwangju Bank said, "I express my immeasurable respect and gratitude for the dedication of the nuns who embraced the difficulties faced by our region, including during the May 18 Democratic Movement, and the pain of the local people," adding, "As a representative bank of Gwangju and Jeonnam, we will listen to the voices of the local community, share concerns in difficult times, and sincerely realize values beyond profit such as 'coexistence with the region and companionship with the local people.'"
