[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jangheung County (Governor Jeong Jong-sun) and the Women's Association Council (President Lee Jeom-suk) announced on the 7th that they held a Parents' Day event on the 6th at Yongsan-myeon Masil Market and in front of Wondeung Village Hall, inviting elderly participants in the senior job project.

The event was conducted in two zones considering social distancing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Members of the Women's Association Council pinned carnations on the elders' chests and prepared and delivered gifts full of love and sincerity, reflecting on the meaning of filial piety.

An elderly participant said, "Although it is Parents' Day, my children live far away, and recently, due to COVID-19, they could not visit, so I felt lonely. I am very grateful and happy to receive unexpected carnations and gifts."

Lee Jeom-suk, president of the Jangheung County Women's Association Council, said, "I am glad to express gratitude on Parents' Day during these tiring times due to COVID-19. Although modest compared to the sweat elders have shed for the local community, it was a meaningful time to deliver gifts filled with appreciation."

Governor Jeong Jong-sun stated, "On this Parents' Day, we will reflect on the gradually fading culture of respect for elders and filial piety, and we will implement new and diverse policies suitable for a city that respects seniors so that elders can spend their later years healthier and happier."
