Minister Choi Ki-young Encourages 5G SMEs Visit, "Efforts to Build 5G+ Convergence Ecosystem"

Visit to Innowireless Headquarters on the 7th

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Choi Ki-young, Minister of Science and ICT, visited Innowireless, a strong small and medium-sized enterprise in the 5G sector.

On the 7th at around 10 a.m., Minister Choi visited the headquarters of Innowireless located in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province to check the level of technology and encourage the officials.

Innowireless specializes in wireless network optimization solutions that identify and analyze factors degrading the performance of 5G wireless networks. With support from the Ministry of Science and ICT, it developed and commercialized the first portable measuring equipment for 5G in Korea. Its sales amount to 93 billion KRW, of which exports account for 62%, or 57.8 billion KRW. The number of employees is 304, which has increased by more than one-third compared to 228 in 2017. Major products include wireless network optimization solutions, 5G measuring equipment, and small cell solutions.

Minister Choi said, "For the successful realization of the Digital New Deal, innovation in industries based on 5G and national digital transformation are important tasks," adding, "The government will continue to make various efforts to extend the achievements of the world's first 5G commercialization to the establishment of the world's best 5G+ convergence ecosystem."

The Ministry of Science and ICT is making this year the first year of fostering the 5G+ convergence ecosystem and is promoting various policy measures to revitalize the domestic industrial ecosystem, such as enhancing the competitiveness of equipment and device companies and activating 5G convergence services.
