[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A North African man who pushed a woman down the stairs of a subway station in central Paris has been deported from France.

According to the daily Le Figaro on the 5th (local time), the French government deported the man who violently pushed a woman down the stairs of a subway station in the 18th arrondissement of Paris last month on the 2nd, and banned him from entering France in the future.

Local media reported that the man is of North African descent and holds Spanish nationality.

The incident occurred on the 16th of last month at the entrance of the 'Porte de la Chapelle' station on Paris Metro Line 12.

A white woman and a North African man got into a verbal altercation on the street.

The woman, angered, threw the items she was holding onto the ground and tried to hit the man with her hand.

The man dodged her hand and pushed her down the stairs.

The woman was pushed down several steps, hitting her head against the wall, and she grabbed the railing as she fell.

The man calmly left the scene as if nothing had happened.

This scene quickly spread through a video taken by passing pedestrians.

In response, Marl?ne Schiappa, Secretary of State for Citizenship, posted on social media calling it "unacceptable violence."

The police arrested the man the next day.

Meanwhile, the 18th arrondissement of Paris, where the incident occurred, is the cheapest and one of the most insecure districts among the 20 arrondissements in Paris, with the highest proportions of Muslims and Black residents.

Some local netizens criticized the behavior of immigrants, saying the problem was not the 'violence' itself but the fact that the perpetrator was 'North African.'
