[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) announced on the 6th that it will implement safety management measures to prevent fire and gas poisoning accidents at 142 campsites in the province.

Recently, as the preference for non-face-to-face tourist destinations such as campsites (glamping, caravans) has increased due to COVID-19, various safety accidents have also increased, emphasizing the importance of campsite safety management.

In fact, on the 3rd, a family of three camping at a campsite in Gangwon Province suffered an accident. Earlier, in December last year, a tragic accident occurred when a man and woman in their 20s, who were about to get married, were found dead inside a tent near a valley in Gyeonggi Province.

Accordingly, Jeonnam Fire has strengthened safety management to raise awareness among related parties and users and to prevent various safety accidents such as fires.

For the safety of campsite users, a zone will be operated where three types of fire safety kits consisting of safety whistles, fire alarms, and carbon monoxide detectors can be rented free of charge at campsites in the province.

Along with this, various fire prevention notices will be provided to raise awareness about fire hazards.

In addition, for campsite safety management, plans include providing safety messages through SNS networks with camping site officials, installing luminous fire extinguishers to secure visibility at night, operating fire safety consulting, and conducting unscripted virtual fire drills to strengthen rapid fire response capabilities.

Fire Chief Ma Jaeyoon said, “We will do our best in safety management so that campsites can be safe and enjoyable places for rest,” and added, “We ask for special interest and caution from campsite officials and campers to prevent fires and safety accidents.”
