[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 6th that it has unveiled various solutions derived for a sustainable future for the first time, marking six months since the launch of the 'for Tomorrow' project.
for Tomorrow is a project jointly conducted by Hyundai Motor Company and UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) following a business agreement signed last September.
It is a crowdsourcing campaign that gathers collective intelligence from members of various sectors worldwide to create and realize solutions to address issues faced by today's global society such as transportation, housing, and the environment, aiming to build a better tomorrow.
To facilitate smooth project progress, Hyundai Motor and UNDP launched an online homepage where anyone can propose solutions for a sustainable future and freely vote on and exchange opinions about ideas they like.
For the project's first theme, the two parties reflected the 11th of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals, "Sustainable Cities and Communities," and set the theme as "Make cities Inclusive, Safe, Resilient, and Sustainable," accepting solution submissions since October last year.
The video narrated by Jessica Alba, actress and founder of the eco-friendly daily necessities company Honest Company, features three solutions for a better tomorrow: Solar Streetlights (Nigeria), Green Energy Mobility (Nepal), and Real Ice (UK).
In addition to the three solutions revealed in the video, over 50 diverse solutions aimed at creating a sustainable future have been submitted on the homepage from more than 30 countries since last October.
The company emphasized that the majority of the solutions addressed environmental issues such as air pollution, global warming, and eco-friendly energy, demonstrating the high global interest in environmental challenges.
A Hyundai Motor official stated, "Through the 'for Tomorrow' project, Hyundai Motor will accelerate its brand vision of 'Progress for Humanity' and continue various activities to create a sustainable society. We will make continuous efforts in various ways so that more people can create a better tomorrow with the solutions presented in this project."
