‘Resident Petition’ Hyodeok-dong Subdivision Resolved... Reorganized into 17 Districts
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) is promoting the subdivision of Hyodeok-dong due to increased administrative demand caused by population overcrowding, and will open the 17th administrative welfare center in the district in Haengam-dong this July.
According to Nam-gu on the 6th, from July, the Hyodeok-dong area will be divided into Jinwol-dong and Hyodeok-dong.
The name of the new administrative welfare center will remain the same as the existing Hyodeok-dong Administrative Welfare Center based on residents' opinions, but the current Hyodeok-dong Administrative Welfare Center will be renamed Jinwol-dong Administrative Welfare Center.
As of this date, the area and population of Hyodeok-dong are 8.5㎢ and 45,836 people respectively. After the subdivision, Jinwol-dong will have 2.7㎢ and 29,593 people, and Hyodeok-dong will have 5.8㎢ and 16,243 people, enabling a prompt response to residents' administrative needs.
The newly opened Hyodeok-dong Administrative Welfare Center will be located on the 3rd floor of Black Day Food Material Mart at 200 Hyuwo-ro, Haengam-dong.
This building will be used as a temporary office until the new Hyodeok-dong Administrative Welfare Center is constructed, and the number of administrative districts in Nam-gu will change from the existing 16 to 17.
A Nam-gu official stated, “Until now, Hyodeok-dong residents experienced significant inconvenience when using the district administrative welfare center due to population overcrowding,” adding, “With the establishment of conditions to quickly respond to various administrative and welfare demands, we expect to provide residents with high-quality administrative services.”
