37 COVID-19 Cases in Andong-si Within 15 Days... Mayor Kwon Young-se Appeals to "Refrain from Family Gatherings" Mayor Kwon Young-se is appealing to refrain from family gatherings during the COVID-19 briefing on the 6th.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Amid 37 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in the Andong area over the past two weeks, Mayor Kwon Young-se has appealed to refrain from family gatherings ahead of Parents' Day.


On the 6th, Mayor Kwon held a COVID-19 briefing in person and emphasized, "Recently, asymptomatic and mild cases with unknown infection routes have been occurring," adding, "If you have even slight suspicious symptoms such as low-grade fever, headache, or sore throat, please visit the public health center's screening clinic to get tested."


In the Andong area, 4 cases were confirmed on the 4th, 1 case on Children's Day (the 5th), and 3 additional cases were confirmed on the morning of the 6th. Since the 20th of last month, a total of 37 cases have been confirmed consecutively.


Mayor Kwon appealed, "This is a very concerning time when COVID-19 transmission could occur ahead of Parents' Day," and requested, "Even if you have family gatherings, please minimize meetings in places that are not close-contact, crowded, or enclosed."


Meanwhile, in Andong City, as of today, 11,081 workers at nursing hospitals and care facilities have received the AstraZeneca vaccine, and 13,442 elderly people aged 75 and over have been vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.
