[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] KOTRA announced on the 6th that it will participate in the "1st China International Consumer Goods Expo" held in Haikou City, Hainan Province, China, for four days starting from the 7th by organizing a Korean Pavilion.
This expo is a newly established national-level exhibition this year to support the Chinese government's Hainan Free Trade Port development plan and the promotion of the duty-free industry. Department stores and luxury brands worldwide, including France's Galeries Lafayette, Switzerland's Swatch, and China's state-owned duty-free industry such as Zhongmian Group, are participating.
KOTRA organized a Korean Pavilion consisting of a total of 58 companies to support Korean SMEs' entry into the Chinese duty-free market. The main product categories are beauty (24 companies), food (16 companies), and fashion and other daily necessities (18 companies). In addition to 30 individual booths, a "Premium Promotion Hall" consisting of 28 companies was set up to provide sample proxy promotion and video consultations for companies that find it difficult to participate on-site.
Furthermore, to target Chinese consumers accustomed to online shopping, online marketing is being conducted in parallel, including △ direct access to shopping malls via QR codes △ pre-promotion on social networking services (SNS) △ live broadcasting on-site.
