Business Agreement with IT Specialist 'WhoWho&Company'
Launch of Solutions to Prevent Increasing Voice Phishing
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] S-1 has taken measures to prevent the increasing damage caused by voice phishing every year. On the 6th, S-1 announced that it had signed a business agreement with IT specialist company WhoWho & Company. S-1 explained that it focused on the fact that the main users of its budget phone brand ‘Ansim Mobile’ are middle-aged and elderly people vulnerable to voice phishing, and joined hands with WhoWho & Company to prevent damage to customers.
S-1 created a dedicated rate plan for voice phishing prevention on the budget phone brand Ansim Mobile, and decided to provide customers who choose the plan with the voice phishing prevention solution ‘S-1 Ansim Mobile-WhoWho Exclusive App’ developed by WhoWho & Company.
The ‘S-1 Ansim Mobile-WhoWho Exclusive App’ is a service that analyzes the caller ID in real time to check for voice phishing, and immediately notifies the user if voice phishing is detected. It can also detect smishing in real time, which sends text messages impersonating delivery services or wedding invitations to induce the installation of malicious apps.
S-1 stated, "Through the launch of the voice phishing prevention solution, it will be an opportunity to not only prevent customers from becoming victims of crime but also raise awareness of voice phishing throughout society," and added, "We will continue to develop various services that can provide peace of mind to customers through collaboration with other companies."
Meanwhile, according to the National Police Agency, the amount of damage caused by voice phishing has nearly tripled from 247 billion won in 2017 to 700 billion won last year.
