[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Department Store announced on the 5th that it will temporarily close its main store's food hall for one day on the 6th due to a series of COVID-19 cases. The nearby Avenuel and Young Plaza will also be closed.

Lotte Department Store stated, "Although we initially planned to temporarily close only the food hall until the 6th, we decided to proactively close the entire main store, prioritizing customer safety."

During the closure, Lotte Department Store plans to carry out disinfection and sterilization of the main store. Additionally, all approximately 3,700 employees working at the main store, including partner company staff, will undergo COVID-19 testing. Information regarding the closure will be announced on the Lotte Department Store website and mobile application.

Earlier, since the 1st, employees of the fresh supermarket within the food hall at Lotte Department Store's main store were consecutively confirmed positive for COVID-19. Consequently, the main store suspended food hall operations starting from the 3rd.

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) sent an emergency disaster message across the metropolitan area the previous evening, urging visitors to the affected store from the 25th of last month to the 2nd of this month to get tested for COVID-19 at nearby public health centers.
