[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] GS25 announced on the 5th that it will begin pilot sales of two types of COVID-19 self-test kits. Starting from the 7th, the test kits will also be available for purchase at GS Supermarket and Lalavla stores.
The products for sale are SD Biosensor's 'COVID-19 Self-Test (1 unit)' and Humasis's 'COVID-19 Home Test (1 unit)', both of which have received domestic approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
Using the sterile swab included in the self-test kit, nasal secretions are collected and then mixed with the extraction solution. When dropped onto the testing device, the possibility of COVID-19 infection can be determined within 15 to 30 minutes.
A GS Retail official stated, "By introducing COVID-19 self-test kits this time, we aim to fill the gaps in healthcare in remote island and mountainous areas," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our role as a social contributor to the health promotion of the public and as a platform for living safety."
