[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] Overseas travel packages for COVID-19 vaccinated individuals have been introduced in Korea, attracting attention.

'Chamjoeun Travel' announced on the 3rd that since the 30th of last month, it has been selling a travel package called 'The Real Couple Trip to Guam' for vaccinated travelers through its website.

This package is intended for those who have completed both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and have passed the two-week immunity formation period. When booking, there is no need to submit separate vaccination proof documents, but travelers must present the vaccine passport 'COOV' issued by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency before departure.

The first departure date is July 21, with a total of nine departures scheduled until the Chuseok holiday on September 18. A Jin Air 180-seat regular flight is chartered for this trip, which lasts 4 nights and 5 days.

This travel package appears to have been launched following the government's decision to exempt fully vaccinated individuals from mandatory self-quarantine starting from the 5th.

Earlier, Yoon Tae-ho, head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters' quarantine team, stated in a briefing on the 28th of last month, "If a person has completed COVID-19 vaccination, even if they have close contact with a patient, they are exempt from self-quarantine if their COVID-19 test is negative and they show no symptoms."

However, those exempt from self-quarantine must perform 'active monitoring' by reporting their health status daily to health authorities for 14 days and undergo two tests in total. Also, even fully vaccinated individuals entering from countries where variant viruses are prevalent, such as South Africa and Brazil, are not exempt from self-quarantine.

Citizens are reacting positively. One netizen said, "It's really a great product that allows us to travel after getting vaccinated, something we've wanted to do so badly," adding, "But since it's not over yet, I hope everyone stays cautious."

Another netizen expressed, "I'm not sure if the vaccine really prevents infection, but it's nice to see the situation improving," and showed hope by saying, "I see hope for returning to the days without masks."
