Fire Safety, Construction, and Economic Efficiency Combined... Industry Attention Focused
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] DK Board Co., Ltd. (CEO Han Gap-ho), which succeeded in mass-producing EPS quasi-noncombustible insulation material using a single-material core method, attracted industry attention with its excellent technology at the Seoul Kyunghyang Housing Fair.
DK Board Co., Ltd. participated in the Seoul Kyunghyang Housing Fair held at SETEC, Seoul, from the 30th of last month to the 2nd, showcasing the new quasi-noncombustible insulation material ‘DK Board-X’.
‘DK Board-X,’ an EPS quasi-noncombustible insulation material developed in accordance with the February revision of the subordinate regulations of the Building Act, is an innovative product that secured quasi-noncombustible performance through a single-material core test method. It was developed through joint research between DK Board Co., Ltd. and the HDC Hyundai EP Ulsan PS Research Institute.
In particular, it is known that the HDC Hyundai Ulsan PS Research Institute continuously monitors the quasi-noncombustible performance and thermal conductivity through regular performance tests to manage quality.
The core technology of ‘DK Board-X,’ which transformed Styrofoam, an organic building material that burns easily, into a quasi-noncombustible insulation material that does not burn easily, is the uniform coating technology of a high-quality flame retardant liquid dedicated to the core material.
A developer of ‘DK Board-X’ explained, “Through unique uniform coating technology, the flame retardant is evenly coated on the foamed bead particles, enhancing the bonding strength between the beads and the flame retardant,” adding, “The excellent fusion strength secured by the uniform coating technology improved both the quasi-noncombustible performance and insulation effect of DK Board-X.”
He continued, “The success in developing technology optimized for the revised core test method and being the only participant with EPS quasi-noncombustible insulation material at this Seoul Kyunghyang Housing Fair is the result of continuous facility investment and research and development over the past 10 years.”
He also emphasized, “To ensure the stable supply of DK Board-X, which is safe from fire and secures both workability and economic efficiency, we will expand the production line and fulfill our responsibility as a leader driving the EPS quasi-noncombustible insulation material market.”
Meanwhile, ‘DK Board-X’ has secured test result data suitable for quasi-noncombustible materials through the existing quasi-noncombustible material test methods, such as the ‘cone calorimeter method’ and ‘gas toxicity test results,’ and it is known that preparations are underway for a ‘full-scale performance test’ in addition to these.
