[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jung] The prosecution has indicted Yoo Si-min, chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, on charges of defaming Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon through radio broadcasts and other means.
The Criminal Division 1 of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Park Hyun-chul) announced on the 3rd, "Yoo was indicted without detention on charges of defaming Prosecutor Han by making false statements on a radio broadcast."
Since 2019, Chairman Yoo has claimed through media interviews and YouTube broadcasts that "the Supreme Prosecutors' Office's Anti-Corruption and Strong Crime Division illegally tracked his and the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation's accounts in late November or early December 2019." At that time, Prosecutor Han was serving as the head of the Anti-Corruption and Strong Crime Division.
In response, the Action Alliance for Establishing the Rule of Law reported Chairman Yoo to the prosecution, stating that his remarks constituted defamation against Prosecutor Han and other prosecution officials. On January 22, Yoo posted an apology on the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation's website, admitting that his claims were false.
In March, Prosecutor Han filed a lawsuit against Chairman Yoo seeking 500 million won in damages.
