Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Grade 9 Local Government Officials Annual and Selection Category Competition Rates
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced that the application competition rate for the 2021 Grade 9 Local Government Employee New Appointment Examination was 17.4 to 1.
On the 3rd, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education revealed that 7,576 applicants applied for 436 positions for the Grade 9 local government employee exam. This year's competition rate slightly decreased compared to last year (17.7 to 1).
The competition rates by job category for the open competitive appointment exam are as follows: ▲ Educational Administration 21.1 to 1 ▲ Computer Science 13.92 to 1 ▲ Librarian 15.39 to 1 ▲ Health 9.33 to 1 ▲ Engineering (General Machinery) 19 to 1 ▲ Engineering (General Electricity) 14 to 1 ▲ Facilities (General Civil Engineering) 24 to 1 ▲ Facilities (Architecture) 12 to 1.
For Educational Administration, 6,120 applicants applied for 290 positions. For the Facilities Management positions, which require certification, 346 applicants applied, resulting in a competition rate of 6.9 to 1, more than double last year's rate of 2.9 to 1.

The career competitive appointment exam for graduates (or prospective graduates) of specialized high schools and Meister high schools had 120 applicants for 22 positions, with a competition rate of 5.54 to 1. For the first time this year, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will select 20 out of 22 positions for graduates of specialized and Meister high schools in the Facilities Management category.
The gender ratio of applicants was 70% female and 30% male. By age group, those in their 20s or younger accounted for 54.2%, those in their 30s 34%, those in their 40s 10.7%, and 87 applicants in their 50s made up 1.1%.
The written exam will be held on June 5. Specific details such as exam locations will be announced on the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education website on the 24th. The announcement of the written exam passers will be on July 14.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education plans to implement thorough COVID-19 prevention measures, including having a single entrance to the exam venue with strengthened entry procedures, measures for suspected symptomatic individuals, reducing the capacity of each exam room, ventilating exam rooms, mandatory mask-wearing for all examinees, and disinfecting the exam venue before and after the exam.
