[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Kolon Industries FnC Division announced on the 2nd that its menswear brand ‘Series’ will carry out the eleventh Warm Heart campaign this year.
The Warm Heart campaign is a project that supports the marginalized cultural and artistic industries through the sale of collaborative products with artists, and has been ongoing since 2011. Since last year, the campaign has established the Warm Heart Film Fund to support domestic independent films.
The eleventh Warm Heart campaign presents six types of short-sleeve T-shirts in collaboration with three artists. It features artist Seon Ho-tan, who mainly works on analog collage; artist Byeon Young-geun, who blurs the boundaries between illustration and comics using watercolor techniques; and artist Choi Seung-yoon, who conveys social issues through refreshing colors.
Series selected two works from each artist and applied them as printed designs on the T-shirts. To fully reflect the artists’ intentions, the designs emphasize delicacy by using tape materials or preserving the texture of brush strokes. The fabric used highlights the brand’s unique vintage atmosphere with waffle weaves or subtle wave patterns.
Series uses a portion of the proceeds from Warm Heart T-shirt sales to establish the ‘Warm Heart Film Fund.’
Series, which has supported various cultural projects, began supporting domestic independent short narrative and documentary films through the Warm Heart Film Fund last year. In 2020, director Choi Jong-in’s “Salt” and director Lim Da-seul’s “Blink Blink” were selected, and the film production has been completed. They are preparing to submit to domestic and international film festivals.
The 2nd Warm Heart Film Fund contest will accept applications via email from May 3 to June 20. Based on document screening, about two works will be selected and receive a certain amount of production funding.
Yoo Dong-gyu, brand manager of Series, said, “Through the Warm Heart campaign, Series has supported cultural projects in need across various areas, and since last year, we have been running the ‘Warm Heart Film Fund’ as a small effort to expand the foundation of the Korean film industry by supporting independent film production. Series will strive to help talented Korean producers create good films and widely promote them to audiences through this fund.”
