[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] Today (1st), a tragic accident occurred in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, where a delivery worker in his 50s was caught by the truck he was driving and died while delivering materials to a cafe.
According to the police and fire authorities, Mr. A (52) parked his truck in front of a cafe in Samcheong-dong in the morning and tried to enter the cafe with the goods. However, the truck's gear was in driving mode at the time, and as Mr. A got off, the vehicle started moving.
Mr. A immediately got back into the truck to switch it to parking mode but was caught between the truck driver's seat and the cafe stairs. About an hour and a half later, a cafe employee who arrived at work discovered him and called 119.
Mr. A was unconscious when found and was taken to the hospital but ultimately passed away.
The fire authorities explained, "It seems the entrapment accident occurred just as he was about to get into the vehicle," adding, "The paramedics performed CPR and emergency treatment while transporting him to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital."
