[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] KT announced on the 30th that it has prepared an event offering abundant prizes and benefits to customers in celebration of Family Month. From kids' content to senior content, it provides free and discounted benefits on video-on-demand (VOD) content, as well as camping discount coupons for families tired of staying home with childcare. Shopping benefits and membership discounts are also offered.

Abundant Content... From Kids to Seniors

KT is holding the ‘Olleh tv Kidsland Character Fair’ throughout May, featuring representative characters from Olleh tv Kidsland. Until the 27th, customers can enjoy over 700 episodes of 10 popular children’s character contents such as Pororo, Poli, Carry and Friends, and Tayo for free or at heavily discounted prices. In particular, customers who use Hello Carbot VOD will be entered into a draw to receive popular Hello Carbot Bang toys, and those who use BabyBus VOD will have a chance to win three BabyBus occupational picture books.

An event is also being held where customers can purchase Disney’s representative content, including the movie ‘Soul,’ at special prices discounted up to 30%. From May 4 to 19, over a total of 16 days, customers who purchase and use three or more Disney contents for ownership through Olleh tv’s event menu will receive a Mickey mat, and those who use five or more will receive a Mickey folding cart. After purchasing content, customers can apply directly via the remote control on the TV screen.

ViewPlay, which offers a comprehensive range of one-person media game content to enjoy games on IPTV, will provide 130 paid contents from popular creators for children free of charge on Children’s Day, May 5. Detailed information about the Family Month event can be found on the Olleh tv website.

KT’s own OTT (online video service) Season will feature a ‘May Family Month’ special theme until June 10. Popular content for all generations, from kids to seniors, has been prepared. Season will additionally offer five ‘Season Free Movies’ that anyone can use for free simply by logging into the app. The featured movies are ‘Weathering With You,’ ‘Hitman (2019),’ ‘The Divine Fury,’ ‘Steel Rain 2: Summit Extended Edition,’ and ‘My Love, My Bride.’ Furthermore, a ‘Heartwarming Family Movies’ theme section will be introduced. Additionally, popular kids’ character VODs such as ‘Baby Shark,’ ‘Shinbi Apartment,’ and ‘Hello Carbot’ are gathered and provided. For ‘adults,’ binge-watch courses featuring content like ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘Godzilla,’ ‘Spider-Man,’ and ‘Marvel’ are also available.

Events with Children and Families

From the 30th of this month to the 29th of next month, KT will hold the ‘Giga Genie Our Child Compliment Event with Dr. Oh Eun-young’ for Giga Genie users. This event was planned to encourage more compliments for children during Family Month and to alleviate parenting concerns of customers using Giga Genie through Dr. Oh Eun-young’s lectures.

In the event, when customers compliment their child using Giga Genie Pinkfong Compliment, a ‘Compliment Stamp’ is accumulated. After collecting 10 or more compliment stamps and applying for the event, 1,000 people will be selected by lottery to receive participation rights for Dr. Oh Eun-young’s live lecture. The Giga Genie Pinkfong Compliment service praises the child by calling their name with the popular character Pinkfong according to the child’s behavior. For example, if the child wears a mask well, Giga Genie will say, “ㅇㅇ, you wear your mask well when going out~ You’re the best, the best!” Applications can be made through the Giga Genie app, and the more compliment stamps collected, the higher the chance of winning. The top 10 people who collect the most compliment stamps will also have the opportunity to ask Dr. Oh Eun-young questions.

KT is conducting ‘Kidsland Camping’ for families tired of staying home with childcare. Kidsland Camping is held at five popular camping sites nationwide, including Daebudo, through the largest number of nationwide camping site partnerships in Korea. It attracted over 3,500 reservations in April. Customers using the Olleh tv Prime Kidsland plan or Prime Kidsland Pack can use it free of membership deductions, while general KT customers can use it by deducting 7,000 points per night. It is available on weekdays until September 30. Customers who make reservations in May will be entered into a draw to win prizes such as the Kovea Nest 2021 Rebuild Shell Tent, Zero Waste Picnic Set, and Starbucks coupons. Shopping Benefits... Food, Pets, Kids Phones

KT Membership has added benefits for families to enjoy together throughout May in celebration of Family Month and has prepared a ‘Family Month Quiz Event.’ From the 16th to the 31st of next month, discounts of 6,000 KRW at the online shopping mall GS Fresh Mall and 5,000 KRW at E-Mart will be provided.

Benefits for pets have also been prepared. When using the pet supplies specialty online malls ‘PetFriends’ and ‘AboutPet,’ customers will receive a 10,000 KRW coupon depending on purchase conditions. To prepare for increased vehicle use in spring, Oasis vehicle maintenance benefits (50% discount on air conditioner filters, 30% discount on engine oil and air conditioner gas) are also available. Additionally, theme park and aquarium tickets are offered at discounts of up to 56%. Customers who participate in the Family Month quiz event held on the KT Membership app or KT.com will be entered into a draw to receive ‘M Cube Magnetic Cube Blocks’ (100 people).

KT is also holding a prize event for customers who purchase the ‘Shinbi Kids Phone’ from May 1 to 14. Two events are prepared: a ‘Prize Draw Event’ open to anyone who purchases the Shinbi Kids Phone and a ‘Review Event’ where participants write reviews on their personal social network services (SNS). The prize event offers a ‘Shinbi Package’ (1,000 people) consisting of a Shinbi Apartment board game, Shinbi character hand sanitizer, and a hooded blanket. The review event offers a ‘Shinbi Bicycle’ (10 people) and ‘Shinbi Toys’ (20 people). The Shinbi Kids Phone comes pre-installed with the ‘Olleh tv Kidsland,’ ‘KT Safety Box,’ and the dedicated photo app ‘Rollkey,’ which allows users to take pictures with Shinbi Apartment characters.

K Shopping is running the ‘Dear You’ promotion throughout May in celebration of Family Month. Customers who purchase products through ‘LiveK,’ K Shopping’s mobile live broadcast, and verify their purchase or share the broadcast by clicking ‘Share’ at the bottom of the mobile screen during the live broadcast and verify it will be entered into a draw to win ‘Go Cheol-nam Red Ginseng Sticks’ for 30 people.

Along with this, from May 3, K Shopping will grant three membership levels?Family, Silver, and Gold?based on purchase amount and frequency to mobile and online members, and will also offer discount benefits to new subscribers. Customers with Silver level or higher will receive up to 10% discount coupons and 10,000 KRW coupons, and will also be offered free use of over 2,200 VOD contents including movies and series through ‘K Play.’

Gift Phones for Parents... Home Delivery Service

KT’s official online shopping mall, KT Shop, operates a ‘Home Delivery’ service allowing customers to gift phones to parents living far away in celebration of Parents’ Day. Home Delivery is a professional care service where a nearby KT official agency visits the customer’s location to deliver the phone, apply screen protectors, and transfer data.

A prize event is also being held until the 4th of next month. Anyone who activates a smartphone at KT Shop can choose one premium benefit from a picnic UV charger, Logitech Bluetooth keyboard, wireless earphones, or Raon 3-in-1 wireless charger. Additionally, gifts such as mini gold bars, Jeong Kwan Jang Everytime, and Shinbi Lucky Boxes will be given to a total of 350 people by lottery.

KT Telecop will hold the ‘Giga Eyes, Protect Our Family!’ event from May 5 to 31 in celebration of Family Month.
