[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] SK Networks is expanding its support for ICT underprivileged groups in collaboration with Save the Children.
On the 29th, SK Networks announced on the 30th that it signed an agreement for the '2021 ICT Dream Tree Project' at the headquarters of the international relief and development NGO Save the Children, and will support IT device purchases and educational program activities for vulnerable children through information and communication brands such as Mintit and April Stone.
The ICT Dream Tree Project by SK Networks and Save the Children has entered its third year this year. Over the past two years, it has raised donations worth 100 million KRW and helped improve the IT capabilities of more than 40 children so far. In this process, customers also participated in donations through the used phone unmanned purchase machine 'Mintit ATM'.
According to this agreement, SK Networks plans to continuously support education for ICT vulnerable groups and focus its capabilities on expanding social value creation across its entire business portfolio.
An SK Networks official said, “We will add sincerity to ensure that the social value created by the company is spread by utilizing various businesses such as information and communication and automobile management.”
Mintit ATM, the first AI-based used phone purchase machine developed in Korea by SK Networks in 2019, has implemented a donation function within the device, leading to the spread of a donation culture in daily life.
