May ROK-US Summit: Diplomatic Efforts for Advancing ROK-US Alliance and Korean Peninsula Peace Process Also Underway
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the 29th, the Blue House held a meeting of the NSC Standing Committee chaired by Suh Hoon, Director of the National Security Office, to discuss responses to the global economic and security situation.
The Blue House stated, "Today's meeting was attended by Ahn Il-hwan, Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs at the Blue House, Park Jin-gyu, Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, and others to discuss economic and security response measures in light of changes in the global industrial and trade environment."
The Blue House explained, "The attendees closely examined the impact of recent changes in the global industrial and new technology environment on our economy and security, and agreed to strengthen strategic cooperation with related countries through close consultation between economic and security departments."
The Blue House emphasized, "The attendees agreed to further solidify the Korea-US alliance during the Korea-US summit scheduled for late May, and to strengthen diplomatic efforts to advance the peace process on the Korean Peninsula through the prompt resumption of inter-Korean and North Korea-US talks under close coordination between Korea and the US."
The Blue House added, "Furthermore, while continuing to take necessary measures to quickly overcome the domestic COVID-19 situation, we will also make thorough efforts to protect and support overseas nationals in countries such as India and Myanmar."
