NH Investment & Securities Requests Extension for 'Optimus Full Compensation Decision'

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] NH Investment & Securities has decided to request an extension of the deadline to accept the Financial Supervisory Service's Dispute Mediation Committee's recommendation for full refund of the Optimus fund.

NH Investment & Securities held a board meeting on the 29th to discuss whether to accept the FSS Dispute Mediation Committee's recommendation. After receiving the committee's official letter on the 9th, the response deadline was set for the 20th, with the 29th being the final deadline.

NH Investment & Securities requested an extension of the response deadline from the FSS, citing the need for further discussion. Previously, NH Investment & Securities reported to the National Assembly's Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries Committee that it plans to extend the decision-making deadline by about 2 to 4 weeks if necessary.

NH Investment & Securities explained, "Considering the seriousness of the matter after the FSS recommendation, we held three board member meetings and regular board meetings for intense discussions but have not reached a final conclusion." They added, "We will make every effort to quickly derive the most reasonable solution to protect customers and restore corporate trust."

Meanwhile, among the 54 Optimus funds (KRW 697.4 billion) sold by NH Investment & Securities from June 2019 to May 2020, redemptions have been delayed in 35 funds (KRW 432.7 billion). The amount of general investors' funds involved is about KRW 300 billion.
