LH President Kim Hyun-jun Rushes to 'Gwangmyeong-Siheung District' Immediately After Inauguration

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] Kim Hyun-joon, President of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), chose the Gwangmyeong-Siheung District, a planned site for the 3rd phase of new towns in the Seoul metropolitan area, as his first field destination after taking office. This is interpreted as a sign of his determination to promptly resolve the allegations of land speculation by employees in the new town and to steadily carry out public-led housing supply.

According to LH on the 29th, President Kim chaired an emergency inspection meeting at the LH Seoul Metropolitan Special Headquarters the day before to swiftly implement the government's 2·4 Supply Plan. This meeting was the first policy project progress review meeting chaired by Kim, who took office on the 26th.

At the meeting, President Kim focused on discussing △ project implementation performance △ current issues and solutions by project △ this year’s project promotion plan △ and institutional improvement measures.

President Kim emphasized, "Since LH plays a crucial role in leading the government’s core housing supply policy, the 2·4 Plan, it must actively contribute to stabilizing the real estate market by achieving results promptly."

He continued, "Especially since young people, newlyweds, and others hoping to own a home have high expectations for the 3rd phase new towns and the 2·4 Plan, we will accelerate the housing supply measures so that they can secure their desired homes as soon as possible."

In particular, before the meeting, President Kim visited the Gwangmyeong-Siheung District site, where employee speculation allegations were first raised. At this site, he stressed the need to establish measures to strengthen the internal control system to prevent the recurrence of public official speculation incidents.

President Kim urged the LH Gwangmyeong-Siheung Headquarters staff present at the site, "Since the Gwangmyeong-Siheung District has caused inconvenience to residents in the past due to designation cancellations, please carry out national projects transparently and fairly to ensure such incidents do not happen again."
