[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Reports of deaths or shock caused by adverse reactions following COVID-19 vaccination have continued in Gyeongbuk Province.


According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 29th, an 80-year-old female patient A, who was hospitalized in a nursing hospital, complained of palpitations and difficulty breathing on the 27th, 25 days after receiving the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine on the 2nd, and eventually died around 2 p.m. that day.


Another 80-year-old female B, who received the AZ vaccine at a nursing facility on the 5th, complained of difficulty breathing and decreased consciousness three days later, and her symptoms worsened while hospitalized for treatment.


In the case of an 80-year-old female C, who was staying at home, two days after receiving the Pfizer vaccine on the 19th, she showed symptoms such as generalized muscle pain, lethargy, low blood pressure, and bradycardia, suspected to be anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction).


The Gyeongbuk quarantine authorities stated that detailed information about these three cases will not be disclosed at the request of the bereaved families and the individuals (guardians).


Thus, including the 80-year-old female who died on the 27th, a total of eight people have died after vaccination in Gyeongbuk. The related vaccines were AZ for seven people and Pfizer for one person.


Reports of adverse reactions in the Gyeongbuk area include 814 cases for AZ (reporting rate 0.9%) and 101 cases for Pfizer (0.1%). Among these, there were six severe adverse reactions (four anaphylaxis cases and two others).
