KEPCO Selected as an Outstanding Company for Climate Change Response by CDP

Recognition of Outstanding Companies in the Energy & Utility Sector

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Haeyoung Kwon] Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) was selected as an 'Outstanding Company in the Energy & Utility Sector' at the '2020 Climate Change Response Excellence Awards' hosted by the CDP Korea Committee, held on the 28th at the Glad Hotel Yeouido, Seoul.


CDP is a non-profit organization established in 2000 and headquartered in London, UK. It discloses climate change response strategies, greenhouse gas emission data, and reduction efforts of major listed companies in 92 countries, providing financial institutions investing in companies with opportunities and risk factors related to climate change. In Korea, CDP requests and evaluates climate change management information from the top 200 listed companies by market capitalization, and the CDP Korea Committee selects outstanding domestic companies annually.


The Carbon Management Sector Honors awarded this time selected a total of 18 companies across seven sectors including finance and industrial goods. KEPCO was recognized for its continuous carbon management efforts in the Energy & Utility sector. With this, KEPCO has proven itself as an excellent company in carbon management by winning the award for five consecutive years from 2016 to 2020.


Jonghwan Lee, KEPCO's Head of Business Division, stated, "Going forward, KEPCO will actively disclose carbon information to global investors as an outstanding carbon management company," adding, "Through this, we will enhance corporate value and strive to take the lead in global climate change response and early achievement of carbon neutrality."
