Watcha, First Domestic OTT to Launch App for PlayStation
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Online video service (OTT) Watcha announced on the 27th that it has launched a dedicated app that allows users to watch Watcha on the PlayStation (PS) 5 game console.
From today, Watcha users can download the Watcha app from the PlayStation Store (PS Store) and enjoy unlimited streaming of over 90,000 movies, dramas, and entertainment shows provided by Watcha with a monthly subscription. However, previous models such as the PS4 are not supported.
Watcha is continuously expanding its supported devices, extending from web, mobile, tablets, and TV to now include the PS5, thereby increasing touchpoints with users. Watcha is the first domestic OTT to release a dedicated app on the PS Store.
To celebrate the launch of the PS app, Watcha is holding the "PS5 Bae Gugu Jeoljeol Contest." Until the 10th of next month, one person who writes a comment on Watchapedia, Watcha's content evaluation and recommendation service, explaining why they need a PS5 or sharing their story will be selected to receive a PS5 equipped with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive. Wireless headsets and other prizes are also prepared.
Sony Interactive Entertainment Korea (SIEK) is commemorating the launch of the Watcha app by offering a one-month premium Watcha subscription to 3,000 PS Plus subscribers through a drawing until the 16th of next month.
