Yangcheon-gu '2021 Neighbor Making Project' Contest

Selection of 1 to 3 Groups per Dong, Total 30 Groups; Up to 1 Million KRW Project Funding per Group

Yangcheon-gu '2021 Neighbor Making Project' Contest In 2020, residents participating in the Neighborhood Building Project are discussing the direction of the project.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Su-young) is calling for applications for the '2021 Neighbor-Making Project' until May 17 to revitalize the village community.

The Neighbor-Making Project supports the discovery and growth of groups where residents themselves solve small everyday needs felt through building relationships and communicating with neighbors in the neighborhood.

Any group of three or more residents living in the area or working or attending school in Yangcheon-gu, or any nonprofit organization, can apply. However, to allow diverse residents to experience the village community, the three main proposers must be new residents with no prior experience in village community public projects.

The activity themes can be freely applied for as long as they are related to village community projects such as cooperative childcare, village schools, urban agriculture, etc. The district plans to select about 30 groups through screening and support up to 1 million KRW per group as project funding.

Those wishing to participate can submit the required documents such as the project plan and participant list by visiting the local community service center in person during the application period or by sending them via email to the person in charge of each neighborhood.

Detailed information can be found in the announcement on the district office website, and inquiries and detailed consultations about the project can be obtained through the Yangcheon-gu Village Community Support Center.

Kim Su-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, stated, “Through this public project, we hope to restore the network between neighbors that was weakened due to COVID-19 and establish a sustainable village community.”
