Dongseo University and ‘Yeonghwa-ui Jeondang’ Join Hands... Joint Film and Video Content and Talent Emerge


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dongseo University and the Busan Cinema Center have joined hands to promote joint projects such as content exchange and talent discovery.


Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) College of Design and the Asia Future Design Institute (affiliated) announced on the 26th that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 23rd at the MOA (Media Outlet Annex) on the 3rd floor of the New Millennium Hall at Dongseo University to establish an industry-academia cooperation system through content exchange in video media design with the Busan Cinema Center.


The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Soon-gu, Dean of the College of Design at Dongseo University, Jang Ju-young, Director of the Asia Future Design Institute, Bang Chu-seong, CEO of the Busan Cinema Center, and related professors and researchers.


Through this agreement, the two institutions will cooperate on ▶ discovering joint projects utilizing the characteristics and capabilities of both institutions to promote cultural content exchange within the region ▶ providing resources owned by both institutions to discover and utilize design, film, and video-related cultural content ▶ conducting industry-academia collaborative research to discover outstanding local talents in design, film, and video fields and create employment opportunities for local youth.


The College of Design and the Asia Future Design Institute at Dongseo University plan to collaborate with the Busan Cinema Center to plan and develop various events that can inspire citizens.


Additionally, with the new installation of LED on the exterior wall of the Busan Cinema Center, there is a growing demand for diverse content development. They will continuously proceed with media facade work based on digital media content and develop various projection mapping contents.


Kim Soon-gu, Dean of the College of Design, said, “To spread the film and video industry of the film city Busan and the branding of Busan, the local university will take the lead in contributing to the promotion of local culture and revitalization of the industry.”


He also expressed hope to showcase the excellence of their university’s design through multifaceted local cultural content development by utilizing the resources of both institutions.


Jang Ju-young, Director of the Asia Future Design Institute, said, “If creative digital video design works produced by Dongseo University, a design-specialized university, are overlaid on the Busan Cinema Center, a landmark of Busan, it will greatly contribute to making Busan a cultural attraction.”


Bang Chu-seong, CEO of the Busan Cinema Center, said, “The MOU with Dongseo University, a design-specialized university, is very meaningful. I hope this agreement will be an opportunity to upgrade regional cultural contents such as design, film, and video. I also hope this opportunity will serve as a foundation for applying what students have learned at school to society.”
