[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] Due to musical actor Son Junho's COVID-19 diagnosis, musicals 'Phantom,' 'Man of La Mancha,' and 'I Wish' have consecutively decided to cancel their performances on the 23rd.
Son Junho's agency, SidusHQ, stated on the same day, "Recently, (Son Junho) was not feeling well and voluntarily underwent testing, and the test result came back positive, so he has entered self-quarantine." Currently, all staff and contacts who have been in contact with Son Junho have either undergone COVID-19 testing or are awaiting results.
This impact has put the musical 'Dracula,' starring Son Junho, on alert. 'Dracula,' scheduled to open on May 18, was in the midst of rehearsals. The cast includes Kim Junsu, Jeon Dong-seok, Shin Sung-rok, Jo Jung-eun, Lim Hye-young, Park Ji-yeon, and Kang Tae-eul. Among them, Kim Junsu participated with Son Junho in Naver Now's 'Serizabeth' on the 21st for promotion. Upon receiving news of Son Junho's positive diagnosis, Kim Junsu underwent COVID-19 testing that morning and is currently in self-quarantine. Due to this, it is expected that the actors' rehearsal schedules will be disrupted for the time being.
Son Junho's COVID-19 diagnosis also led to the cancellation of the musical 'Phantom,' in which his wife Kim Sohyun stars. All cast and staff, including Kim Sohyun, underwent COVID-19 testing. The 'Phantom' team stated, "Kim Sohyun's COVID-19 test results have not yet come out," adding, "The performance schedule will be decided based on the test results of the actors and staff."
Performances of the musicals 'Man of La Mancha' and 'I Wish' were also consecutively canceled. On the same day, Odi Company announced via their official SNS, "An actor rehearsing for the musical 'Dracula' tested positive for COVID-19," and "There are staff members participating in both 'Dracula' rehearsals and 'Man of La Mancha' performances, so they are undergoing COVID-19 testing and currently awaiting results." They added, "As a preemptive measure, we have decided to cancel the 'Man of La Mancha' performances."
The production company I Am Culture for 'I Wish' also announced on the same day, "It has been confirmed that actor Kim Dohyun, who appears in 'I Wish,' had contact with a COVID-19 positive individual, so today's performance has been canceled," and "Kim Dohyun immediately underwent COVID-19 testing and is awaiting the results." Kim Dohyun was cast alongside Son Junho in the musical 'Dracula.'
