[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 23rd that it will conduct a full-scale investigation into whether Hamyang-gun public officials have engaged in real estate speculation amid nationwide suspicions of real estate speculation involving public officials or information-related personnel.
This full-scale investigation is being carried out in accordance with the recommendation for a full investigation into real estate speculation suspicions involving public officials in Gyeongsangnam-do and the county's own plan.
The target site is a large-scale project developed by the county itself, and the investigation is planned to be conducted on affiliated public officials by May 21.
In particular, the investigation will include public officials of grade 6 or higher, public officials related to the project promotion, as well as their spouses and direct lineal ascendants and descendants. By the 30th, these public officials will be required to submit consent forms for the use of personal information, based on which a full-scale investigation will be conducted.
Additionally, during the investigation period, the county will operate a Public Interest Reporting Center within the audit department to receive voluntary reports and whistleblowing related to public officials' real estate speculation.
Seo Chun-soo, the mayor of Hamyang-gun, stated, “As there is high interest among residents regarding land speculation by LH Corporation employees, a proactive investigation is necessary to resolve the nationwide spread of real estate speculation suspicions. If speculative acts using internal information are found based on the investigation results, strong measures will be taken to establish a clean public official image.”
