[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 23rd that it selected 17 new young successor farmers as beneficiaries of the Young Successor Farmer Settlement Support Project and held a meeting on the 22nd.
The Young Successor Farmer Settlement Support Project is a program that supports early-stage farmers aged 18 to 39 who have been independently farming for less than three years with unstable income.
Selected beneficiaries receive a monthly settlement support fund of up to 1 million KRW for up to three years, and if desired, they can also receive support such as startup funds, technical education, and consulting.
This meeting enhanced understanding of the project through explanations about the overall program and presentations of exemplary cases by young farmers who have already settled.
The county also provided information on various youth support policies in agriculture, daily life, and welfare, receiving great responses from attendees.
Since 2018, the county has selected and supported 65 young successor farmers and is implementing various support projects targeting young farmers, including specialized training for cultivating elite young agricultural personnel.
Yoo Dooseok, the county governor, said, “We organized this event to have a time of communication with young successor farmers who will lead future agriculture,” and added, “We will continue to actively support young farmers so that they can settle stably and grow.”
