McDonald's 'Filet-O-Fish' Re-released After 13 Years, Surpasses 1 Million Sales in 3 Weeks

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] McDonald's announced on the 23rd that the re-released 'Filet-O-Fish' after 13 years and the limited edition 'Double Filet-O-Fish' recorded sales of over 1 million units within three weeks of launch.

McDonald's explained that customer responses such as "I am so happy that the burger, which could only be eaten during overseas travel, is finally available in Korea" have continued since the launch.

The Filet-O-Fish is a burger that combines a soft steamed bun with a fish fillet patty that is crispy on the outside but moist inside, along with a special tartar sauce containing McDonald's 56 years of know-how. It has returned with upgraded taste and quality, applying the 'Best Burger Initiative' introduced last year.

The Filet-O-Fish uses 100% wild Alaska pollock patties, which are the first in the domestic QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) industry to receive the international certification for marine ecosystem protection (MSC - Marine Stewardship Council). The MSC certification is an international certification awarded after evaluating factors such as whether fishing activities are conducted in a sustainable manner that protects the marine ecosystem healthily.

A representative from McDonald's Korea said, "The product quality of the Filet-O-Fish, which has returned tastier with the re-release, is analyzed as the biggest factor for its popularity," and added, "We will continue to actively respond to customer requests and needs to provide products and services that satisfy customers."

Meanwhile, McDonald's is holding a special event at stores until the 28th to repay customers' support for the re-release of the Filet-O-Fish. When purchasing any burger set or large set, customers can purchase a single Filet-O-Fish at a 40% discounted price of 2,100 won.
