[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] A store manager working at GS25 saved the life of a woman in her 20s who was attempting an extreme act. The protagonist is Eunji Jang, a store manager at the GS25 Seogok Miracle branch in Hyoja-dong, Jeonju City.


According to GS25 on the 23rd, Manager Jang guided a female customer in her 20s who came into the convenience store early on the 19th looking for charcoal briquettes, informing her that they do not sell charcoal briquettes and sent her away. However, about 10 minutes later, the customer returned to the store and purchased soju and blue tape. Feeling something was wrong, Manager Jang became concerned and immediately reported to the police, but was unable to locate the customer. Using quick thinking, he contacted the credit card company and requested that the customer call the convenience store due to a payment error. Subsequently, the customer called the store via mobile phone, and the police tracked her location, saving the precious life of the customer.


GS25 presented Manager Jang with a letter of appreciation and a modest reward on behalf of the president the day before. If he wishes, he will also be given the opportunity to be hired as a full-time employee by passing the new employee internship recruitment scheduled for the end of this month. Manager Jang said, "I recently received crime prevention training through GS25's 'Chatbot Genie,' and seeing similar cases in the news greatly helped in this rescue effort. I also thank the police officers who listened carefully to the reporter’s request and did their best in the urgent situation."


GS25 shared this case nationwide with over 15,000 store owners and employees through the AI conversational work support system 'Chatbot Genie' and the 'Store Management System,' which provide 24-hour information via smartphones. GS25 stated, "We have continuously conducted education related to crime prevention and accident prevention that store employees can easily practice. We plan to strengthen our role as a social public interest platform that saves precious lives and prevents accidents in advance through this."


Meanwhile, GS25 has been engaged in public interest activities such as supporting socially marginalized groups, disaster relief efforts, operating the 'Tomorrow Store' to promote self-sufficiency and job creation for low-income groups, and designating stores as 'Child Safety Keeper Houses' to protect and support children.
