YoonSung F&C Selected for Government Project on Continuous Slurry Development for Medium and Large Batteries

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Yoonsung F&C announced on the 22nd that it has been selected for a government project related to the development of a continuous slurry for medium-to-large battery electrodes, aiming to be the world's first.

The official project name is "Development of a 35LPM-class Continuous Slurry Mixing System and In-line Quality Measurement Technology for Medium-to-Large Battery Electrodes," with a duration of three years from 2021 to 2023 and government funding of 3 billion KRW.

Yoonsung F&C participates in the project together with Professor Hwang Wook-ryeol's team from Gyeongsang National University, the only domestic specialized stirring research institution, and the High Technology Research Institute.

As the lead organization of the project, Yoonsung F&C was established in 1986 and boasts 35 years of experience. It was the first in Korea to develop and commercialize a slurry mixer with a capacity of 2300L, and jointly with clients, developed batch-type mixers including a 2800L three-blade mixer and a 4000L mixer.

Kim Han-sung, head of the Technology Research Institute, stated, "Yoonsung F&C has already secured three core patents related to the continuous mixer, which is the key element of this project, giving us a clear competitive advantage over rival technologies." He added, "We expect strong demand once the technology is developed."

He continued, "This technology development aligns with the trend of next-generation secondary battery electrode processes. It is closely related to the advancement of secondary batteries and is a field of great global interest." He emphasized, "We are currently promoting extensive research and development necessary for next-generation secondary battery manufacturing processes, such as all-solid-state battery production."

Yoonsung F&C recorded sales of 88.5 billion KRW in 2019 and 131 billion KRW in 2020. To respond to continuous demand growth, it recently built a new factory in Anseong City, doubling its production capacity. The company is planning to list on the KOSDAQ in the second half of this year.
