Construction of a 'Complex Cultural Center' in Yeosu National Industrial Complex

Jeonnam Province Selected for Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Project Two Years in a Row

Construction of a 'Complex Cultural Center' in Yeosu National Industrial Complex

[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] A complex cultural center integrating various functions such as culture, welfare, and convenience will be built in the Yeosu National Industrial Complex. It is expected to resolve the shortage of community and rest facilities for workers.

Jeonnam Province announced on the 22nd that the Yeosu National Industrial Complex was selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's '2021 Industrial Complex Complex Cultural Center Construction' contest project, earning the honor of being selected for two consecutive years.

The Yeosu National Industrial Complex Complex Cultural Center is scheduled to be completed in 2024, directly reflecting the demand of about 24,000 industrial complex workers. A total project cost of 10 billion KRW, including 3.5 billion KRW in national funds, will be invested.

In addition to industrial complex workers, welfare and cultural facilities such as a small library, multipurpose conference rooms, and indoor and outdoor sports facilities that local residents can use together will be provided, as well as support facilities for youth startups, corporate promotion, and education.

In particular, a long-awaited work uniform laundry will be installed for workers, equipped with specialized equipment and a delivery system to handle work uniforms that are difficult to wash at home or general laundries due to hazardous chemicals.

Joo Soon-seon, Director of the Strategic Industry Bureau of Jeonnam Province, said, “When the complex cultural center is built in the Yeosu Industrial Complex, which was designated as a Smart Green Industrial Complex last year, it will be created as a space where industry and culture coexist, improving working and living conditions. We plan to actively promote projects to improve the welfare environment of the industrial complex.”

Meanwhile, Jeonnam Province confirmed the project this year for the Yeosu Industrial Complex following the selection of three industrial complexes located in Yeongam, Damyang, and Yeonggwang for the complex cultural center construction contest last year.
