Hillcreek Launches 'Plustic Collection' Made from Recycled Plastic Waste

Hillcreek Launches 'Plustic Collection' Made from Recycled Plastic Waste Hillcreek Plastic Collection Photo Shoot.

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] BYN Black Yak’s golf apparel brand ‘Hillcreek’ announced on the 22nd that it will launch the eco-friendly product ‘Plustic Collection,’ made by collecting PET bottles used domestically.

Plustic is a compound word of “plus” and “plastic.” To address the issue of importing plastic from overseas, BYN Black Yak collaborated with the government, companies, and local governments to establish the first domestic resource circulation system for PET bottles used in Korea, introducing this recycled fiber.

Hillcreek’s Plustic Collection consists of four types of T-shirts. The polyester-rayon material is made by washing discarded plastic bottles, shredding them into chips, and extracting yarn, featuring moisture absorption, quick-drying, and contact cooling functions. Approximately 15 PET bottles of 500ml size are used per T-shirt, and compared to manufacturing with new polyester, it reduces energy consumption by about 30%.

The representative product, the ‘Diagonal Line Print Shirt,’ is a short-sleeve T-shirt made of polyester-rayon recycled fiber, offering a cool touch and excellent comfort, suitable for wearing through midsummer.

A Hillcreek marketing official said, “Since golf is a sport enjoyed in harmony with nature, we deeply empathize with the necessity and importance of protecting nature and the environment. Starting with this Plustic Collection, we plan to gradually expand collections using recycled fibers to reduce indiscriminate resource use and promote sustainable fashion and nature.”

Meanwhile, Hillcreek released a video encouraging proper plastic separation and disposal to ensure that plastic waste generated in Korea can be recycled, featuring pro golfer Kim Hyoju and actress Ryu Abel. The video can be viewed on Hillcreek’s Instagram and YouTube channels.
