[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) has fully opened the doors of the Gangbuk-gu Laborers' Comprehensive Support Center and has begun full-scale operations.
The Laborers' Comprehensive Support Center is an institution that provides integrated services for the protection of workers' rights and welfare enhancement.
It focuses on vulnerable workers such as essential workers and employees of small-scale businesses. The facility was established as part of the measures to improve the working environment of apartment security guards announced by Gangbuk-gu last year.
The core projects include free legal consultations, worker education and employment support, psychological healing programs, and policy development and research. If suspected cases of legal violations such as unfair dismissal or workplace harassment occur at the workplace, certified labor attorneys affiliated with the center provide legal consultations and rights protection. It also serves as a mental health counseling center for emotional laborers experiencing psychological distress.
The support center plans to raise labor sensitivity through campaigns to improve awareness of working conditions and human rights education, and to prevent rights violations in workplaces. It strives to strengthen workers' capabilities through job-specific skill enhancement training. It also supports employment training and job-seeking activities for the unemployed in connection with local job facilities.
This year's policy development research includes surveys on the status and conditions of workers by local industry. It also includes a study on improving shift systems tailored for apartment security guards. The research results will be used as basic data for establishing support measures for vulnerable workers.
Any worker belonging to workplaces in the region can use the center.
The operating hours are weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. When there is education, it is open from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The center is located near Samyang Station on the Ui-Sinseol Urban Railway (Samyang-ro 64-gil 32-20) and occupies the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building.
For inquiries, please contact the Laborers' Comprehensive Support Center.
Gangbuk-gu Mayor Park Gyeom-su said, “The Laborers' Comprehensive Support Center is expected to be a strong support for workers' lives,” and added, “I hope it will become a resting place and a local community that workers can easily visit anytime.”
