[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the afternoon of the 21st, Ryoo Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, participated in the ‘119 Relay Challenge’ encouraging the installation of fire safety equipment in each household to reduce damage to residents caused by fires.


The ‘119 Relay Challenge’ is a campaign that began on November 9th last year, the 58th Firefighting Day, to raise awareness of the importance of fire safety equipment such as fire extinguishers and fire alarms and to encourage their installation. On this day, Mayor Ryoo Kyung-gi conveyed the safety rule, “For small fires, prepare; for large fires, evacuate first,” and the message, “1 One fire extinguisher and detector per house and vehicle, 9 equipped!” urging everyone’s practice and effort for fire prevention.


Participating upon the nomination of Kim Sun-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, Ryoo Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I hope everyone actively participates in installing fire extinguishers and fire detectors to protect the safety of family and neighbors from fire,” and added, “We will do our best to make Jungnang-gu a place where both the district and residents can live with peace of mind.”


He nominated Lee Jung-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, and Lee Chang-woo, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, as the next challengers.


The district has been selected for two consecutive times with the highest grade, A, in the regional safety diagnosis evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
