[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City in Gyeongnam signed a business agreement with the Jinju City Daycare Center Association (hereinafter referred to as the Association) on the 21st to improve negative perceptions of dementia.

The Association was established in 2005 and has been actively working to contribute to the welfare of children and childcare staff at daycare centers and the development of childcare.

According to this agreement, the Daycare Center Association and its affiliated daycare centers will actively participate in ▲ establishing a cooperative system for early education to improve dementia awareness ▲ spreading dementia prevention exercises such as dementia prevention activities ▲ social activities to improve dementia awareness.

Participating daycare centers will be designated as leading organizations for overcoming dementia and will take the lead in creating a dementia-friendly environment by providing dementia awareness education to children in the 7-year-old class.

The dementia awareness education includes various content tailored to children's perspectives, such as sand art that helps understand dementia patients and their families, activity books, and explanatory videos.

After the education, participants will visit the Dementia Safety Center to experience cognitive rehabilitation training through VR (virtual reality) and have time to interact with the elderly.

A city official stated, “Through dementia awareness education for daycare workers and children, it will be an opportunity to understand dementia patients and their families and to take the lead in promoting dementia prevention methods at home and in the local community.”
