National Tax Service Launches National Tax Statistics Portal... Tax Statistics to Be Released Thrice Annually to Real-Time Starting This Year

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] On the 22nd, the National Tax Service announced the launch of the National Tax Statistics Portal, a completely revamped website for national tax statistics, to make it more convenient for the public to utilize national tax statistics. Starting this year, the existing national tax statistics, which were published three times a year in July, November, and December, will be switched to on-demand publication according to the production schedule of each statistic.

Until now, the statistics released by the National Tax Service were only available for simple viewing and downloading through the National Tax Statistics Yearbook booklet and the existing national tax statistics website, limiting their usability. The National Tax Service explained that through the National Tax Statistics Portal, it has improved convenience by providing content visualized with graphic images to help users easily understand complex statistics, and by offering customized services that allow users to select necessary items and time series to directly produce and utilize statistics.

The statistics released first on this day, ahead of schedule by more than three months compared to the previous year, include collection (26 items), consumption tax (4 items), investigation (5 items), earned income tax credit (11 items), and others (14 items).

In particular, statistics on the status of business operators in the top 100 living industries and 14 major business types are provided as visualized content every month. Through this, users can check which types of stores increase or decrease monthly in their neighborhood, as well as the rate of change compared to the same period last year and the previous month.

Regarding income, users will be able to examine income levels by region and age group, and visualized data on regional national tax statistics and tax item-specific regional national tax statistics will also be disclosed.

Dynamic charts showing the ranking changes of the top 10 by city and province over the past 10 years and user-customized analysis functions are also available.
