Hanatech Acquires Two Patents for UTG Processing Technology

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Hana Technology, a specialized manufacturer of secondary battery equipment, announced on the 21st through a public disclosure that it has acquired two patents related to display glass (UTG) processing technology.

The patents pertain to a method and apparatus for processing the edges of glass used in UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) and a method and apparatus for processing glass edges using a high-frequency induction heater. These are domestic patents.

The glass substrate edge processing method is characterized by contacting the edges of a cooled glass substrate with a member heated by high-frequency induction to cut the edges of the glass substrate. It provides a new method to remove glass edges in strip form without dust.

Unlike existing methods, there is no need to heat the glass to a high temperature. A large furnace is not required. Since post-processing steps such as preheating or annealing are unnecessary, the manufacturing process becomes very simple.

A Hana Technology official stated, “We plan to respond to various customer requests through the technology acquired in this patent, and in addition to our existing secondary battery equipment manufacturing business, we will expand our business model into the flexible display glass pre-processing and equipment business field in the future.”
