Gyeongnam Province Confirms 16 Recipients for Consolation Payments Related to Buma Democratic Uprising

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Sixteen recipients of consolation payments related to the Buma Democratic Uprising have been confirmed.


Gyeongsangnam-do will provide consolation payments to 16 individuals related to the Buma Democratic Uprising starting from the 23rd.


Recipients will receive a monthly payment of 50,000 KRW beginning with the first disbursement on the 23rd.


Additionally, if a person related to the Buma Democratic Uprising passes away, a separate funeral expense payment of 1,000,000 KRW will be provided.


This consolation payment program targets households with monthly incomes below the median income, among those related to the Buma Democratic Uprising who reside and have their address registered within the province.


Previously, from February 22 to March 15, after verifying administrative information such as address consistency and property and income checks for 75 individuals, 16 were selected as recipients of the Buma Democratic Uprising consolation payments.


Besides the consolation payments, the province has been accepting additional applications from individuals related to the Buma Democratic Uprising since April.


Those related to the Buma Democratic Uprising are defined under the "Act on the Restoration of Honor and Compensation for Persons Related to the Buma Democratic Uprising" as persons who died or went missing due to the uprising, persons who suffered disabilities, those who have diseases specified by presidential decree, or those who were detained or convicted, and who have been reviewed and designated as related persons by the "Buma Democratic Uprising Truth Investigation and Related Persons Honor Restoration Deliberation Committee."
